As we endeavour to develop future leaders, Pridwin has successfully implemented a “ Big Brother” programme, pairing a Grade 0 learner with a Grade 7 “Big Brother” and serving a number of different purposes. Firstly, the “Big Brothers” help the Grade 0s adjust to their new learning environment, developing a sense of belonging to their school and counteracting any bullying that might develop in a monastic environment. Secondly, it assists in creating valuable learning opportunities where the younger learners are assisted by more able peers in completing tasks they might not be able to do on their own.
Thirdly, it provides the Grade 7s with opportunities to mentor the younger learners, to be leaders and to realise their own potential in this regard. Leadership development continues to be a large focus in each grade where skills are taught through cooperation, as well as on the playground and sports field.
